Spring is the best time to plan food gardens that you can harvest all fall and into winter when local food is scarcer and imported food is more expensive. Many plants that are good for winter gardens can be planted as early as mid June! Once established, a winter garden doesn’t need as much care or watering as a summer garden, helps preserve topsoil, and increases seed saving opportunities, and maximizes the use of your garden space. Learn what to grow, when to plant, and how to protect your plants for more nutritious produce all year round. We will be actually planting some seeds in packs for you to take home to start your winter garden! Instructor: Connie Kuramoto
