Food Delivery Restaurants Nanaimo

Takeout and third-party delivery apps are marketplaces that allow customers to order takeout and browse individual menus from their phones or desktops.

A third-party app acts as a virtual food court and puts you in front hungry customers in your local area who are willing to order.

Some apps offer take-out orders that customers can pick up at their restaurant. Others allow independent contractors to deliver the food directly to your customer.

You could offer pickup only or hire your delivery team if you want to keep more operations and profits in-house. Some restaurants have temporarily retrained their front-of-house staff to be temporary delivery drivers, as some dining rooms are closing or have reduced capacity.

The dark side of food delivery and takeout apps

The third-party apps industry has seen an enormous growth with online ordering increasing by more than 25% in the wake of the pandemic, and 78% of consumers ordering online more frequently than ever before.

Even the most popular food delivery app has its problems. Some take a 30% commission on all orders, plus monthly fees. This makes it difficult for you to make a profit on large orders.

Third-party apps can cause more harm than good in an industry already struggling with the COVID-19 challenges. New York City has placed a temporary limit on commissions at 15%, and marketing contributions and other fees at 5%.

A class action lawsuit has been filed against several third-party food delivery companies.
